Shakira Austin Gives Back in a Huge Way Through Her Beyond the Arc Basketball Camp

We absolutely love when players pour into communities in an impactful way and Washington Mystics’ Forward-Center Shakira Austin is the latest to do so. Today, Austin debuted her basketball camp, Beyond the Arc, made specifically for children aged 5-14 on the autism spectrum. “This camp is all about creating an inclusive and supportive space for kids on the autism spectrum to experience the joy of basketball,” she shared in an Instagram post. “As someone who believes in using my platform to give back, this event means so much to me.”

Set to be held on November 9th at James Munroe High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the Beyond the Arc participants will receive a T-shirt signed by Austin, lunch as well as a keepsake photo to remember the moment. To make this initiative even more special, Austin announced that all proceeds will go to Humanity of Hope Initiative, a non-profit that provides resources and support to vulnerable communities who face homelessness and instability.
